1ST ANNUAL BLUE COLLAR BASKETBALL CLINIC
Our first ever basketball clinic was a success! This great group of kids came back from their Thanksgiving break refreshed and ready to work on their game! Last weekend Coach Tatum lead a full clinic at the Folsom Sports Complex, working on basic skills and fundamentals of players from 4th to 8th grade. There were teaching moments, drills, competitions, and some pretty serious prizes for the winners (autographed Jimmer Fredette items to start) - not to mention the free t-shirt that every child got for participating in the clinic. All-in-all it was a great afternoon of basketball. We hope to do many more of these basic skills clinics in the near future, as well as some skill and age specific clinics.
If your child is interested in attending our next clinic - or would like to set up a clinic for a group in your area - please send Coach Tatum an email to bluecollar.crosstraining@gmail.com.

COACH JAMAAL TATUM
As the Founder and Lead Basketball Trainer of Blue Collar Cross Training, you're probably wondering what qualifies ME to offer your child the most superior basketball training and development. Well here's a little bit of my history with basketball...
Sports were an integral part of my life from a very young age - soccer, track, football, tennis, you name it and I've played it - all of which helped mold me into the athlete I am today. But basketball took hold when I got to middle school. I became the star player on my high school team and started gaining attention on a collegiate level earlier on in my tenure at Helias High School. In the end I chose Southern Illinois University, where my team went on to make NCAA tournament appearances all of my four years with the Salukis, including a Sweet Sixteen finish my Senior year. I received numerous awards throughout my college career, including Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year (2007) and Academic All-American. Although I thought my experience as a college athlete couldn't get any better, I was honored earlier this year by being inducted into the SIU Basketball Hall of Fame as a first ballot nominee.
After college I played as a free agent in the NBA for a short time, as well as in the NBA Development League with the Idaho Stampede. After an ankle injury resulting in surgery, I took my talent over-seas where I played with teams in France, Latvia, Venezuela, and Germany.
Now, 4 ankle surgeries and a knee procedure later, I'm a retired professional basketball player hoping to pass on my skills and knowledge of the game to the young talent of the world. Since my return to the States I have spent two seasons as a high school basketball coach and AAU coach, and 4+ years as a basketball trainer. I use my extensive experience across all levels of basketball participation to mold the physical and mental game of my trainees.
